Course content

In six weeks the course provides a solid theoretical background within the topics:

 

Breeding:  Selection, germless, property rights  
Variety testing:  Breeders seeds, DUS field plots, UPOV rules  
Multiplication:  Research, pollination, agronomy, contracting  
Processing:   Drying, cleaning, monitoring  
Testing:   Germination, moisture, purity, seed health  
Certification:   Legislation, authorisation, inspection  
Storage:  Technology, climate and costs  
Trade:  ISTA and OECD rules, quarantine, marketing  

Finally, the course will focus on overall design of seed supply systems in a development context.

Through an individual assignment each participant will receive supervision for analyzing specific problems relating to his own organisation. Company visits and seed testing laboratory exercises are included in the course.

 

Teaching language

We expect all participants to have a good command of English, since all training is conducted in English.
